The Warrior

It was long ago, I remember well.
How long it was I can not tell.
The soldiers came while I was gone, And they killed my wife.
And Now I live alone filled with hate and strife.

I am a hunted Redman, I travel with a war band.
And Someday I know it will end and they will take my life.
Oh God, if they had not come I would again see my wife.

I get no sleep at night, I long to kill and fight.
And when they lay me down to die, I know I will not cry,
For in the Other Land I will take my wife's hand.
